The Lamb
The One sitting on the throne holds a scroll in His right hand. It is obviously an extremely important document for it is sealed with seven seals. It is obviously an extremely important document for no one was found worthy to open it at all. It is obviously an extremely important document for the fact that no one could open it caused John to weep and weep. What is this scroll? The Bible doesn’t tell us out right; however, by implication it is generally assumed to be the title deed to the earth.
John is told to stop crying because one had been found who was worthy to open this scroll. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David, was found worthy. Turning to see this powerful one John sees, not a fierce lion, but a Lamb that was Slain standing in the center of the throne. Imagine! At the center of the ruling power of the universe is a Lamb that was Slain.
But we know who this Lamb is. Yes! He is worthy! For with His own blood He has redeemed men and women from every tribe and language and people and nation. Therefore, all of the angels say He is worthy to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise. (That appears to be a perfect seven.) So, every creature under heaven echoes these accolades, the four living creatures resound, “Yes!”, and the elders fall down in worship.
Imagine. Not just someone who got 51% of the vote. Not just someone who won the electoral college. Someone who is worthy.
