The White Rider
At last! We are finally coming to the point where the true King arrives and this world system is finished. This passage starts, appropriately enough, with a four fold “Hallelujah!” And why not? The time has finally come.
When the first seal was broken we saw a rider on a white horse come forth bent on conquest. He was the false rider. He was bent on conquest but he did not succeed. Now the real Rider on a White Horse is revealed. This is His apocalypse, His unveiling. Here is what we know about Him.
He is called Faithful and True. John had heard Jesus Himself declare, “I am the Truth.” He is the writer who reports the conversation in which Jesus told Pilate, “Everyone who is on the side of truth listens to me.” Concerning Him being called Faithful, He was able to pray on His last night before the cross, “I have completed everything You gave me to do.” That is faithful.
He is called the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God, He was with God in the beginning.
He is also called KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. For God has indeed exalted Jesus to the highest place and given Him a name that is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of god the Father.
He judges and makes war, but unlike the way of the World System He does these grave things with justice. His first act upon His return is to make war. All of the armies of the earth who have sided with the beast are allied to stand against the Rider on the White Horse. It isn’t much of an encounter. They are killed with the sword that comes from His mouth. Of course they are. This is the mouth that said “Light be!” and the universe sprang into existence. This is the Word of God. This is the time to shout, “Hallelujah!”
