Ephesians 2:1-22

He is Our Peace

Chapter two of Ephesians is another passage filled with amazing statements:

  • God has raised us up to be seated in the heavenly realms with Christ and in Christ. And when you consider that the previous chapter told us that everything is under Christ’s feet that also puts everything under our feet. Remarkable.
  • It is by grace we are saved through faith...not by works s that no one can boast. It was this blindingly bright revelation that fueled Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation.
  • We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Anything good we do is actually the result of God working in us.
  • We are one.

There were really only two types of people in the world: Jews and Gentiles. The Jews were God’s chosen and the Gentiles were not God’s chosen. It was just that simple. Jesus changed all of that. There is is no Jew or Gentile in Jesus. He is the peace that brought unity between the two. He is the peace that draws all near to God. He is the peace that turns foreigners and aliens into family and members of the same household. He is the peace that causes God to actually live inside of us by His Spirit.

And having all of this, He is in fact our Peace in all things.
