Acts 25:13-27

Jujutsu

Jujutsu is a Japanese martial art used primarily for close combat when one is facing an armed opponent and is them self unarmed. It represents a technique of manipulating the opponent's force against himself rather than confronting it with one's own force.

God Almighty is of course all-mighty. He has all of the force of the universe at His disposal and then some; however, He often uses jujutsu and it is a beautiful thing when He does.

We have seen Paul taken “prisoner” by Rome because the Jews insisted. He was kept in custody after Felix left office because the Jews insisted. He was brought to the attention of Festus because the Jews forced the issue. Because they forced the issue Paul has now been handed free safe passage to Rome. But that’s not all. Because they forced the issue Paul is now going to be given a chance to testify to the Gospel before King Agrippa.

Paul wrote to the church at Corinth and told them about coming to the Lord about his “thorn in the flesh”. He told them that God’s reply was, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul learned this lesson over and over in his walk with the Lord and surely this occasion to speak to King Agrippa was a prime example.

In the words of the great reformer Martin Luther:

And though this world with devils filled
Doth threaten to undo us;
We will not fear for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.

Godly jujutsu.
